Skills: Programming, GUI Design, IntegrationOn my own initiative, I developed a software tool intended to improve the precision of fault reports and work effort bookings entered into the SAP system of Herbert Ospelt Anstalt.
The software tool was implemented in Rust. A range of open-source libraries were used.
Using OCR text recognition engines based on machine learning methods, text is extracted from images taken during work activities and filtered using regular expressions. Additional relevant data is extracted from the images’ EXIF information.
Based on this, the tool generates fault reports and effort bookings and automatically enters the employee’s working time.
The employee reviews and supplements the entries within the tool.
Finally, the entries are automatically transferred by the tool into the SAP interface, and fault report documents are prepared.
The configuration options allow the employee to use the tool either in a rudimentary mode or to its full extent. With full usage enabled, images are synchronized from the smartphone, and upon starting the tool, only images that have not yet been processed are loaded automatically.
