It's time for a Mechwarrior/Battletech thread /m/!Been replaying through 4 Merc and having fun. It's unfortunate that 3015 went kill.
>>13462547Here's a superior machine.Did you grab that version with all the mekpacks or whatever they're called?
>>13462632Hunchy IIC is fun as shit. Used to tear it up in multiplayer with twin RAC20's and 2 medium pulses.
It's time for a Robotech thread /m/!
>>13462547Is mechwarrior 2 win95 good version ?Any fix for Mechwarrior 4 :mercanaries ?Main menu is gliched !
>>13463053If only that game had been made.
>>13462547Where did you get MW4? I've been dying to play it again but it isn't on any online service.
>>13463159Torrent sites should have the Mektek version
>>13463159For some reason, Microsoft allowed it to become freeware, but I hear the installer may have some problems.BTW, anybody else back the Harebrained Schemes BT game kickstarter?
>>13463162Mektek? I thought that was the..no, I'm thinking of Megamech, what's Mektek?>>13463167I backed it. The creator of Battletech runs HBS and they have a pretty good track record with Shadowrun as I hear, so I've got a little faith in it.I'll have to look into it. I remember looking a few months ago for MW4 and the expansions but couldn't find anything trustworthy on Google and didn't want to risk a torrent site at the time.
>>13463053What is it with Atlases being strangely stealthy?
>>13463257Mektek did the MekPaks and Free Release for MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries that boosted the number of Mechs from the original 44 (including the IS/Clan packs) to 128, and introduced playable battle armor and infantry. They have since been working on Heavy Gear Assault as their first commercial product with Stompy Bot as the publisher.
>>13462926If you have MW4:M installed with the shortcut on the desktop you might see if adding -gosnovideo to the target line after MW4Mercs.exe fixes up the menu.
Make room for the chain smoking Lyran salary man
>>13463266Because its an assault mech that has a ECM and the pilots use it to their absolute advantage.
>>13465021But does it have jump jets?No really does it? I forget.
>>13465816Not sure if there was a version or custom that had some.
>>13463257http://www.moddb.com/games/mechwarrior-4-mercenaries/downloads/mxc-downloaderthis is what I used to get the game, and I didn't have any problems with it>>13465823IIRC the "final boss" atlas of mechcommander 2 had jumpjets installed, which was absolutely insane and a steiner assault lance
>>13465899*which was absolutely insane going up against him and a steiner assault lance
>>13465823MW4 mekpak had a non canon variant, Warlord that had jumpjets.
MW4 mercs Solaris was easily one of the best tournament modes I've ever played, mostly cause the commentary made it actually sound like a real sport.

>>13465823>>13465816David Renard's Atlas custom had jump jets and dual gauss as its main arm
>>13468705Oh wow, he's done quite a lot of BT stuff.
>>13463167>>13463257Yeah, I backed at the 275 dollar tier. I need a cool jacket and I originally wanted the muv-luv one, but it was only available at like 400 dollars, so I went with the BT one instead. On that subject, I have to admit, Nov. 3, 2015 was a damn good day for /m/echa kickstarters. Both Muv-Luv and Battletech completely blew away all their stretch goals (Muv-Luv got over 1M with the top goal being 900k, Battletech 2.8M with the top goal at 2.5M) at pretty much the exact same time. I was quite impressed.
>>13468813Hopefully it makes developers willing to look into mech games.
>>13465816There's a variant of King Crab that has Jump Jets.I once built a King Crab with Jump Jets, ECM and a Targeting Computer, shit would have been baller in an urban combat environment.
>>13462547Glad that the game was funded.
>>13463266Hiding in cities is surprisingly easy if you make it your business to absolutely ambush an opponent. Even a 3/5 can do it well enough. And the Atlas is no taller than a level 2 building, which is... 2 or 3 stories?
>>13469830Depending on the source an Atlas is around 16 meters tall plus or minus a couple, and an elevation level in the tabletop is 6 meters high. There are a number of Mechs in lore taller than 12 meters but for game purposes Mechs are considered 2 levels tall when figuring cover by terrain, buildings, or water submersion.
into MWO recently out of boredom.how i purchase Mech? all i play was trial mech & have no idea to get an actual mech yet.
I've been wanting to get into battletech for sometime, is the starter boxset the best place?
>>13470495for doing it physically, yesthe overall best way to do it is through http://www.megamek.info/ because it's same game, but automated and freetry that out to see if you enjoy the gameplay
>>13470510oh awesome, thanks!
best Battlemech coming through.
>>13470294Need to get enough C-bills from playing to buy one you actually want to use. Assuming you don't want to waste real money on the game. And the fun part is that in order to unlock all the skill trees to boost your Mech's potential to the maximum, you need to buy and level up three variants of a Mech just to get one of them maxed out to elite level. Welcome to grinding hell and minimally viable gameplay.
>>13470294Don't do it. By the time you've grinded enough to buy a mech you'll be sick of the game. Even after getting one the game really doesn't get any more fun, just a little less shitty.
>>13470523noice
>>13465816No. That's why you use a Victor. JUMPING AC-20 STRONK.
>>13470532>Welcome to grinding helldid play UCGO, War Thunder from the past where grinding hell keeps going on, i'm cool with it.>>13470649well, ok. things really confusing from the beginning & not to mention the controls.gonna git gud soon & missile spam is pretty fun until ammo out.
>>13463266
anyone have any idea about the premium time?the functions of it?
>>13472692It's pretty standard, you get a bit more cash from wins, I think that's about it.
>>13472509If you wanna get a mechBuy a Hunchback. Two variants are a must have: 4G and 4P. Third variant are up to you but the 4G and 4P are insanely fun and can punch way above their weight if kitted out properly.use http://mwo.smurfy-net.de to special build it.Hint: 4G should always stick with AC20s and the most fun builds for 4P always involve 9 small pulse lasers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeDIm5Qpmx4 for 4P required viewing.
>be 5>go over to friend's house>play game called mech warrior 2 for the first time that his dad just bought>play through the clan wolf campaign>play a level where I destroy a mech called the "rifleman">think it is the coolest shit ever because he has FOUR laser guns for arms>as soon as I unlocked it I never tried any of the other mechsAnd that is the story of my first mech crush.
>>13472979Hah, I was just using a Rifleman in a game and cursing how shitty the base design is.
>>13472979I had a custom Marauder IIc where I put the autocannon back on it, the Rifleman was and Kit Fox were my favorite to fight against because PPCs were a guarantee cockpit hit on Kit Foxes and I used to strip the arms off the Rifleman and let them wander around useless while I did my objectives.
Shadowcat best girl.

>>13472766holy fuck anon, i start to like Hunchback 4P once it equipped nicely. 4G tried but kinda meh.question, XL or standard engine? if any of my torso gone does that mean i'm a goner, as in XL engine?
>>13473354>now
>>13474621With the clan mech laservomit meta right now I'm amazed a new player like you can have fun in a hunchieFor hunchies its probably best to go standard for maximum zombie. I don't remember if you can fit an XL on a 4G anyway, since ac20s are fuckhuge.Reminder to go for one of the largest engines, upgrade to DHS yadda yadda. Might want to ask /gerg/ on /vg/ or check out metamechs
>>13474663> clan mech laservomit metaclan can go fuck themselves. Mercenaries for life.i could go for XL engine in 4P, but not sure to get it or not.
>>13474707Save your money, since engines are fucking expensive. Find a mech you like to play then kit it out. Also, as long as you don't elite a mech and fully kit every one of them out the mech feels like utter shit. Endo and DHS is pretty much essential on most mechs. Coupled with optimizing the engines and loadouts you're potentially looking at a couple million hidden costs on your first mechsAlso I have fun wrecking people in a JMS-DDtri-uac5 for life
>>13474746equipped with highest standard engine with DHS while self-learning in customize. it was really awesome in speed, compared to stock type.it's max satisfaction when enemy's mech arms destroyed while moving & mowing in the greatest speed inside 4P. sold 4G as need cash & kinda meh when pilot it for the first time.by 'go standard' you mean armor? can i go zombie overloaded in FF as it give more 12% protection than usual? or stick to standard & equip more ammo for AMS?
>>13474861>literally wasting cBillsNever go FF, it doesnt increase armor, just squeezes out a litttle extra tonnage for more crit slotsAMS is a waste of time on the 4PGo read a few guides and ask /gerg/ before you waste anymore cBills on buying and selling mechs, holy shit. Also the 4G is good, you just have to learn to use it.
>>13474662That's when Macross became Battletech. Now Battletech has become MacrossToo bad that's not an official design though
>>13474887the guide take some time to digest & it's not easy for beginners to master completely without any aid of self-learning as well.get missile spammed every time when rolling out with 4P, no choice & purchase AMS to counter those annoying flying bees. will keep it for general purpose, since equip or not depends on my missile spammed frequency.purchased 2 hunchback mech & sold 1 so far, currently stick to Hunchies 4P only, guess i'm good to save more cash while mastering it to the max.btw Endo occupied few crit slot, does that meant i can't go total full zombie yet with 4P if i Use Endo, because filled crit slots leads to higher chances being crti? or better to loose any item that take up crit slot to empty state, to prevent enemy gain higher crit chances, in general term?
>>13474621Hunchbacks: Never use XL Engines because your torsos are insanely fuckhuge and easy to lose. Using Standard Engines are your best bet.
>>13475699http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=2&l=3d63297864e8dddcddafdb9bf4cbf8dd3a407c79Use STD 275 engines for max possible speed for keks
>>13475657Endo Steel internals and Ferro Fibrous armor shouldn't have any bearing on soaking up critical hits. They are basically just bulkier components that require less tonnage, but are not considered internal equipment.
>>13475699
>>13475736WUBWUBWUBWUB
>>13475851What's going on with that Wraith's arm?
>>13476114It's the artist's interpretation of IS Pulse lasers. You can spot two of them on the Falcon Hawk's arm.
>>13476142Huh, cool. Explains their increased weight pretty well too.I thought it might have been a custom weapon from the SA BT AU.
>>13473045>rifleman-3N>shittygit gud at riding the heat curve. If Gray Norton can do it, so can you.
>>13476602>riding the heat curve.Oh yeah, the heat curve. That's why the 3N sucks. Not the whole 7.5 tons of armor thing. Or the 10 shots for each gun. Or the fact that falling on your ass is a complete death sentence.I think I would actually rather have a Blackjack than a Rifleman.
>>13473183Macross II's Destroids were kinda fun. Hitoshi Fukuchi is one of my least favorite mecha designers, but he did okay on these.
>>13477203Photoshop is fun.
>>13477223Something from the GunHED video game... but it makes a nice Destroid... which makes it a super-nice Battlemech.
>>13477223Because I could.
SD Atlas a cute
> use 4P for battle with EMS equipped> SP lasers to the cockpit> BOOM down the enemy goes> FUCK YEAH, bail out. fucking missiles coming out of nowhere> BRRRRTT EMS out of ammo> shattered by Missiles, again... at least i get a kills & few assist. & need a ton of EMS ammo again.
>>13477274
>>13477274I don't get it.
皿を用意する前に料理する材料を洗いながらかじって作る前に無くならないか?
>>13479333I statted that shit out in Battletech. Although I had to flub the missile tube number a bit.
about the clan things in MWO, is it really something special that caused clan mech laservomit meta situation?i'm interested about getting 2 slot DHS instead of normal 3 slot DHS, & seems it was clan related stuff.so any ideas & comments?
>>13477203conversions: Tomahawk IIFor some reason, I get the idea of a Warhammer-style design where the team's boss suddenly said "Put a pair of turret-mounted Gauss Rifles on it" That put the mass up to Assault Levels, and they had to strip out some extra systems they had planned and downgrade the PPCs to Lights, but they got it to work. Defender II: I got sixty-five tons, with two Light Gauss Rifles, two Medium Lasers and an SRM-6 for backup, and a targeting computer. I might see if I can do PPCs and Thunderbolts later, Phalanx II: Quad LRM-15s with Artemis, what else? Same size and profile as the Defender, but I had to make the iOS SRM-2s Streaks.
>>13479670There isn't mixtech available so if you want Clan equipment like the smaller double heat sinks you would need to choose a Clan Mech. At the moment they are all OmniMechs which means fixed engines/armor/structure that can't be removed however.
>>13480525I will never get tired of how hilariously stupid it is that omnis get less customization options.
>>13480676It's to keep Clantech from being even more horrifically OP. As if it isn't already.
>>13479341>皿を用意する前に料理する材料を洗いながらかじって作る前に無くならないか?...--->>"Do not go away before making the biting while washing the material to cook before you prepare a dish?"...Right.
>>13480987No you retard, that clearly translates as>"Do not it disappear before it makes it biting while washing the material cooked before the plate is prepared?"
>>13480525just checked out part by part, apparently clan tech seems not flexible in mods. tried few mods in clan trial mech & the option pretty limited.
>>13479748>Tomahawk IIThat already exists though. It's just a Daishi with endo-composite internals
>>13468385
I loved playing MechWarrior 3 on aol dial up back in the late 90s. Just load up a heavy mech with a lot of medium multi missile launchers. Link all their fire. Shoot dozens and dozens of missiles at a target before you over heat.
>>13483420>MMLsWait, those were in MW3?
>>13470523>>13472051
>>13479748What about the Glaug?
>>13485008Two PPCs, two mediums, an AC/5 with a ton of ammo, 15 heat sinks, 75 tons, 300 standard engine, and 11.5 tons of armor.
>>13480676Probably because the MechWarrior games use construction rules that treat the player like a Mech factory rather than customization and refit rules that take into account things like the actual cost and time and difficulty to alter stock Mechs. If it was the latter OmniMechs would be far more cost effective and easier to swap weapons and parts due to their modular nature, over ripping out hardwired and embedded equipment on a standard BattleMech. They way it'll probably turn out in MWO is that when the Clan IIC Mechs are available that are supposed to be second line garrison units, is that they will have the advantages of Clan equipment along with beaing able to swap the internals/armor/engine, making them more flexible if not outright better than the front line Clan OmniMechs.
